Security Devices

Verisec has chosen a number of vendors that support the OATH standard and which have been tested to work with the Freja appliance. Verisec resells these devices as part of a total delivery and will manage any warranty issues that may arise with the hardware device. A typical installation may contain multiple devices for different user groups.

The number of devices that we currently represent can be extended to include other vendors that our customers wish us to test with Freja. At present the devices are representative of the main form factors that can be found in Europe, Asia and North America.

  • one time password token

OTP tokens (OTP = One Time Password)

OTP tokens are physical devices that generate a new password each time the device is used. A typical token is portable and is not connected to a PC. A token gives a high level of security since passwords are only used once.

  • mobile phone

    Mobile Tokens

Freja supports various mobile authenticators for smart phones and tablets. In combination with Freja's self service registration portal, authenticators can be deployed and users registered without mannual involvement by a help desk and with no cmpromise in security. This in turn reduces lead time and cost for the deployement and user activation process.

  • scratchcard

    Code Cards

Code cards are primarily intended for mass-market applications where the cost of the security device is critical. A code card is produced with multiple one-time codes printed and concealed by a layer of scratch-film. The user reveals the new password by scratching the film.

    SMS and e-mail

Support for SMS and e-mail authentication is built into the Freja authentication platform. When a user wishes to login, a SMS or e-mail is sent to a pre-defined number or e-mail address. Based on this message the user can then complete the login procedure.

SMS and e-mail authentication does not in itself constitute strong authentication, but allows for a flexible and cost efficient one-time password solution.
