Verisec welcomes Resurs Bank as new customer on the Nordic market

Regulatory press release

Today the IT-security company Verisec announced that Resurs Bank will extend their customer offering by adding an addtitional method for electronic identification with Freja eID. With the new agreement Resurs Bank will have the possibility to offer the eID service Freja eID to the bank´s Nordic user base of five million customers.

Freja eID is a new electronic identity that launched August 15 2017 and the first user group that was connected was Sweden´s university students. Following that a number of companies and organisations have announced that they will introduce Freja eID as an ID-method for their users. Resurs Bank is the first financial company that joins the new ecosystem of electronic identities that Verisec is building with Freja eID.

Resurs Bank is a Nordic niche bank focused on financial services for the private and corporate market. Some of Resurs Bank´s partner collaborations within financing- and payment solutions are SIBA, Bauhaus, NetOnNet, SOVA, Ticket, BMW and MIO. Resurs has tens of thousands of retail stores in the Nordic and through them a customer base of around five million people. As a part of their continued digitalization of their operations Resurs Bank now adds one more electronic identity service with Freja eID. The objective is to be able to provide their retail partners a possibility to offer end users more options for a convenient and secure experience.

Joakim Wallin, Head of Cards Nordic, Resurs Bank comments:
”By adding Freja eID as an additional eID service we take a big step forward in our development of digital services as we now will gain access to a platform where we can do business development from a Nordic perspective. Up until now we have been adapting to the different eID-solutions offered in the different countries and there are very big differences. With a more flexible ID-platform, working across borders, we can now take our digital offer to the next level.”

Johan Henrikson, VD Verisec, comments:
”The agreement with Resurs Bank clearly shows that there is a demand for alternative solutions around electronic identities. The Nordic perspective, which was one of the key factors for Resurs Bank choosing Freja eID, is in my mind worth highlighting. In the future I believe we all will have electronic identities with a global reach, simply because the digital services we use does not stop at the country border. However, we need to start building the ecosystem of services and end users from our home region to begin with. The agreement with Resurs Bank is a huge step forward in that process with five million potential users of Freja eID.”
