Verisec sponsors important research project at Uppsala University with the e-identification service Freja eID

Press release

The IT security company Verisec, which is behind the e-identification service Freja eID, sponsors a research project at Uppsala University. The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health is behind the research project and Freja eID will be used for safe identification of the participants.

The research project uses participatory mothers’ mobile behaviour patterns to identify complex relationships that make it easier to detect mothers who are at an increased risk of suffering from postpartum depression and/or premature birth using modern machine learning techniques. Security procedures such as digitally secured identification of the participants in the research project are extremely important. Verisec acts as sponsor by providing the research project with precisely that through the e-identification service Freja eID.

Arvid Marklund, project manager in Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University comments:
“Postpartum depression is unfortunately a common condition that can lead to very serious problems for both the mother and her children if not treated. Many of the victims doesn’t land in the care safety net and therefore do not have access to the effective treatments available. In our project we will use the participants’ mobile behavioural patterns together with machine intelligence to learn more about which mothers are at higher risk of suffering from postpartum depression. The future purpose is to be able to develop effective tools that can help this disadvantaged group in time. ”

Johan Henrikson, CEO Verisec comments:
“Freja eID is an e-ID in the form of an easy-to-use mobile app for today’s and tomorrow’s needs, concepts that are very much covered by the goal of this research project. As a sponsor, we are of course proud that the e-identification service Freja eID constitutes the method for logging in and identifying participants in this extremely important research project at Uppsala University.”
