HOW TO PROTECT SENSITIVE INFORMATION WITH A 2FA SOLUTION WHEN USERS ACCESS REMOTELY

In line with many public sector partners and organisations, RBFRS had a requirement to protect sensitive information when users required access from outside the trusted RBFRS network.

The challenge

RBFRS required a flexible, cost-effective strong authentication solution to protect its remote workforce when accessing information out of the office. Any proposed solution needed to offer flexible token choice, be deployed within tight timescales and offer excellent security in line with public sector organisations.

The solution

Verisec deployed its Freja ID and Freja Self-Service Portal (SSP) solution to meet this challenge. A resilient pair of Freja ID’s was installed alongside the SSP allowing users to provision physical tokens, email, SMS or tokens on smartphones as required. The integration provided two-factor authentication for the users of the RBFRS Cisco ASA solution.

The solution was deployed and integrated into the RBFRS Active Directory and remote access solution inside a single day and allowed RBFRS to deploy to users in a controlled fashion.

The results

Following a very simple deployment, the Verisec Freja ID solution has brought simplified secure access from day one. It highlights the change required when implementing a solution of this nature that really changes the way users interact with systems, for the better.

The Solution allows RBFRS to escalate the use of remote access to its 400 users, offering token choice and the capability for the users to provision the tokens themselves.

Following the Freja deployment the team at RBFRS embarked on the Freja Accredited Training course and now boast three fully Certified Freja ID & Freja Multipliance administrators.
